The Samling

A few hundred feet above one of the most beautiful lake in Britain beckons a small gem of a hotel. It's called The Samling. Set in it's won sixty seven acre estate it's like no other place you've ever stayed. This is a hotel in the country and emphatically not a country house hotel so there's none of that snooty nostalgic stuff. Ivy Bank is a pretty Victorian house built in the 1890's from local slate and retains many of its original features. Within thirty minutes walk from Ivy Bank there are several excellent viewpoints the lakeshore and tumbling waterfalls. We are situated on a quiet road away from main thoroughfares within a few minutes walk of the all the village facilities. All our bedrooms are en suite and are provided with a colour TV radio alarm clock hairdryer a selection of toiletries and hospitality tray. In addition 2 of our larger rooms have a sofa and DVD player. We have off road parking and safe storage for bikes. Guests staying at Ivy Bank can use our membership of a local leisure club. This includes free use of most of the facilities such as swimming pool sauna steam room spa bath gym badminton and snooker. Laurel Cottage

Beautiful Victorian guesthouse situated in a quiet part of Windermere Village overlooking Queens Park an ideal location to explore the Lake District. Personally run by the owners Gwen and John who offer a warm and friendly welcome. The rooms are spacious and are all en suite individually decorated and furnished to a high standard. A three minute walk to the amentities of Windermere Village where there is a good selection of restaurants bars cafes and shops. Approximately a ten minute walk from the rail and bus station. The 15 guest rooms include a choice of single double and twin rooms with two of them located on the ground floor. All rooms are well equipped with colour television radio alarm clocks hairdryer and tea coffee making facilities. Two of the rooms have 4 poster beds and if you really want to impress flowers and or champagne can be waiting for you in the room. A family room is also available. There's a bar and residents lounge where you can relax with a drink and breakfast is served in the light and airy dining room with its large windows overlooking the garden. Woodlands is open all year round and special midweek breaks are available. There's ample off road parking and credit cards are accepted. The hotel is ideally located for visiting the many attractions of this glorious area.
