Had you travelled by stage coach on the hazardous Carlisle Glasgow route in the 1800's you would certainly have appreciated the hospitality and warmth of the Abington Coaching Inn just as Napoleon III did in 1839 when he rested here after a tiring days grouse shooting. You can still find his chair in the hotel. Take exit 13 or 14 from M74. Follow signs to Abington less than a mile from the motorway.From Edinburgh leave the Edinburgh circular and join the A702 signposted for Biggar. Follow the A702 until you reach the junction for the M74. Exit into Abington village
